In the story, Fluer was so dead set on getting her land back and was very unwavering. In college, some students have that same type of identity foreclosure and will go forward and try to become an engineer or doctor despite the failing grades or unnecessary stress that it is causing them. The take home message I get is don't be afraid to change. Change is growth.

Coming to a close.
Four Souls is probably the best book I read so far this year. It's unique multiple narration really drew me in and made the characters come to life. I just want to speak briefly on the ending of the book. I thought the ending was pretty brutal for Fluer because she realizes what she originally set out to get back is really the last thing she wanted. It is only the least thing she wanted because of all the events that occur between losing her land and getting it back. Losing her children was probably the worst of all,"your first child does not love you and your second child doesn’t know you.” I don't have kids, but I can imagine that living a reality where those words hold water is pretty rough. I ultimately think that a valuable lesson is taught by Fluer's unhappiness and I personally drew something that confirms one of my current beliefs.

I totally agree with that last point you made there. Sometimes people get so caught up with what they are doign that they forget to follow their hearts. After all, we need to follow a road that will lead to happiness in our lives, not more troubles that those we already have.
